Chargé d'Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Lesotho Mr. Song Changqing Meets with ITU SG Mr. Zhao Houlin

On September 16th, 2018, Chargé d'Affaires ad Interim and Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho Mr. Song Changqing met with Mr. Zhao Houlin, Secretary-General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and his delegation at the Embassy. Hon. Chief Thesele Maseribane,Minister of Communication, Science and Technology of Lesotho Government and Counselor Ma Guoliang of Chinese Embassy also attended the meeting.

Mr. Song extended warm welcome to Mr.Zhao for his visit to Lesotho and the Chinese Embassy. He indicated that information and telecommunication technology (ICT) is a key area of development for African countries including Lesotho. Following the decisions adopted in the Beijing Summit of FOCAC, the Chinese side is willing to work together with ITU to promote Lesotho's ICT development and ICT connectivity between African countries.

Mr. Zhao said that according to the Beijing Action Plan (2019-2021) adopted by the FOCAC Beijing Summit, China and African Countries will enhance cooperation at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other international organizations, and step up coordination on training, Internet connectivity and the building of innovation centers. ITU is committed to promoting the telecommunication development of African Countries including Lesotho together with China.
