Ambassador Sun Xianghua Attended Disaster-Relief Assistance Hand-over Ceremony in Quthing

On 21 March 2018, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Lesotho H.E. Dr. Sun Xianghua attended the hand-over ceremony of disaster-relief assistances by the China-Lesotho People to People Friendship Action Fund to the households, schools and taxi owners affected by an unprecedented hailstorm in Quthing district in 14 March. Her Majesty Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Minister of Communications, Science and Technology Hon. Thesele Maseribane, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Hon. Leshoboro Mohlajoa, the District Administrator and Principal Chief of Quthing, mainstream local media, representatives of the beneficiaries, the Friendship Action Fund and the Chinese Community were also at the occasion.

Ambassador Sun observed a moment of silence together with all people present in tribute of the deceased, and conveyed deep sympathy to all disaster affected residents. He said that the hearts of the Chinese community are close to the local people and therefore rose immediately to help the latter in their fight against the hailstorm, which truly shows "a friend in need is a friend indeed". He wished the assistance could help the community to restore their normal livessoon.

Mr. Chen Kehui, President of the Friendship Action Fund and Mr. Lin Yongwei, President of the Commercial Chamber of Overseas Chinese in Lesotho said the Chinese Community regards Basotho as their brothers and sisters, and will stand hand in hand with them to rehabilitate their home. Her Majesty Seeiso, Hon. Maseribane and Hon. Mohlajoa extended appreciations to the Chinese Community for their contributions to the re-building of the community. They appealed the Basotho to bear this great friendship from Chinese people in mind, and take full advantage of the assistances in resuming their normal lives as soon as possible.
